Papao First

Phrase

an insult used to tell someone to not hold you to standards and expectation that even their father cannot fulfil

the usage of the phrase was popularised by a trending video of someone saying, “O botsa nna ke reke koloi, papao first”, which can be loosely translated to, “don’t tell me to buy a car if you father also doesn’t have one in the first place”

the phrase is now generally used in various other instances, usually in response to the ‘indoda must’ phrase.
